About Lance and Joker

Smooth Collies are Short Haired Collies, Same as the Rough
Coats accept their hair does not grow long. They seem to
be slightly larger than the Rough coats. Most Collie Pups has
their ear tips glue down to ensure the ears will stay that way
when they become adults. I knew that I was not going to show
Lance so I took the glue and braces off of his ears. Joker came
to me at about 1 year old from the breeder, he was returned
to her from the people who purchased him at the same time
I bought Lance. The breeder knew that I understand Collies
and took great care of Lance. When he came to me he only
weighed in at 44 pounds, it took a year for him to gain his
proper weight back. Collies are sensitive dogs, if there is alot
of screaming and arguing in the household they will decline in
health. A Collie needs a stable and happy home at all times.

I think Collies has long noses because they are very nosey,
I cannot put on my socks without them investigating.
One thing I notice about the male Collies, they mature very
slowly. Both of my boys are 3 years old, but they are more
playful now than when they were puppies. Lance is definately
the dominent dog, Joker is still a puppy at heart. He loves to
play with our neighboor's Lab.

Collies

Whats great about the Smooth Coats is no dealing with hours
of brushing their coats. Also, I think they are very unique
in appearance. Everyone comes up to me and asks what kind
of dogs are they? or what handsome dogs they are, and so
friendly. They may be friendly, but they make great watch
dogs and will protect their families. Collies are very athletic,
if you train them from puppies they can be great at agility.
Smooth Coat Collies have more energy than the Rough coats.
Some might say also they tend to more noise and activities.
They don't seem to care too much for swimming. Although
they don't mind dipping their feet in shallow water.

Collies comes in 4 colors, Sable and white, Blue Merle,
Tri-color, and white. The white collies has an all white
body, the head is either tri-color, sable or Blue Merle.
Tri-color is the only color of the collies that has a mask like
impression on the face.
My first Collie named Lucky, was a rough coat white collie,
with a Tri-color head. He was a beautiful dog. Average life
span of a Collie is 10-14 years. Most Collies develope athritis
around 8 to 10 years old.

Collies are so trusting, I even trust them with a new born
baby. They know the difference between a young toddler
to an older child. When my niece was starting to walk, Lance
never jumped on her, or push her down in any way. But with
my Nephews is 10 and 11 years old and Lance plays around with him, running and jumping with him. One day Lance sees
my Niece walking towards the street, so he started to walk
circles around her to keep her from walking into the street.
My Mother told me that in the farms down south the Farmers
used Collies to watch the children while they worked the fields.
Their intelligence is remarkable, they seem to understand
more than you think.
